Aborted hail from Belgium and have been belting out their
brand of deathgrind for the better part of 20 years. "Global
Flatline" was released after what was regarded as a bit of a letdown in the
way of "Strychnine.213" and was welcomed with open arms. The music on
"Global Flatline" is a non-stop assault of shredding guitars,
bombastic drums and vocals that belong in a horror movie rather than a music
album. This is fast, mind splitting deathgrind done very well, but the most
redeeming factor is the memorability of the album. So many times, grindcore
acts simple put out album after album of just "grindcore songs" but
they lack any true identity. The music throughout "Global Flatline"
has its flaws, but the majority is filled with memorable riffs, killer hooks
and destructive drumming that leaves no doubt that you will return to this
album more than once. The "Hellraiser II" samples fit the dark and
brooding theme of the overall album and is just cool in general as I was always
a fan of the series (although it began to wan in quality over the years, but
that's another discussion)
