Aborted: Goremageddon: The Saw and the Carnage Done

My first experience with Aborted, "Goremageddon: The Saw and the Carnage Done" is exactly what I was hoping for when I first ordered it years ago. This is pure deathgrind. An assault on the ears that starts once you press play and doesn't stop unless until it's finished. In retrospect, this is not their best album, but it is a good one. The vocals are more on the death metal side, with hints of grindcore, but the music is very typical to what an Aborted is all about. Pounding drums, loud, shredding guitars with growls and grunts galore. Samples from movies are commonplace in this genre and many times they feel like filler or just plain unnecessary, but Aborted uses them well here as they did on "Global Flatline". At the end of the day, death metal and grind fans will definitely want to give this a listen.

Highlights: "Charted Carnal Effigy" "Meticulous Invagination" "Ornaments of Derision"

Rating: 3.5
