Classic heavy metal in vain of the classic sound.
"Where the Time Dwelt In" is a short but sweet 5 song EP (1 intro and
1 instrumental) delivering blissfully old school oriented heavy metal. The
guitars on this EP remind me a bit of Manilla Road, but their Iron Maiden
influence is undeniable. Catchy melodies and fast riffs make this what some
metal heads call "New Wave of Traditional Metal" and I would agree.
The music here is everything fans of classic metal would want, while something
about Tony T. Steele's vocals, remind me of Tim Baker of Cirith Ungol, which is
what drew me to the band. I have yet to hear their latest EP, but I am more
than intrigued to hear it after this release. The only drawback for me is the
production. I'm not sure about the difference of how production is applied to
demos compared to EPs and to Full lengths, but to my ear this sounds what I
would expect a demo to sound like. Now, I've heard demos and EPs with stellar
quality before, so perhaps someone could educate me a little on the process. In
any case, the vocals could use a little more pop to the forefront as I found
this release to be best enjoyed with headphones only in order to capture the
full potential. Old school metal fans should give this a spin.
